USB3? exactly how often do you use that extra speed? Bah. 4.2 was just a dream about six months ago for me. I'm not afraid to go into the BIOS, it's just that the auto did such a good job.

Would I get a better deal with a manual overclock of 4.9 than with the auto tune o/c of 4.2 with an intelligent turbo, considering the GPU is the bottleneck ? I mean a better deal regarding power usage and temperatures as well as speed. Voltages for the cpu and maybe even Ram vary with the turbo, which I don't think you can disable. I was told the Ivys run hot so I thought to settle with 60 Celsius load. The GPU is certainly capping the system, while being still very good

The reasons I let the auto do the o/c were these I had to let my H50 go just because I was going overseas and they are a bit heavy in the luggage. OK the motherboard is Asus p8z77-V-LX (I always cheap out at the last minute when buying these things !!) If running at stock clocks, the 3570 looks like it has a little bit more performance and obviously some more features, might fit you better.ДЄs stated though, both will probably be bottle-necked by the graphics card giving virtually identical performance in most games, you do have the ability to shove the extra $25 you save on the 2500K into a more efficient aftermarket CPU cooler or a better graphics card. If you plan to overclock the processor a decent amount, I'd probably consider the 2500K. I don't exactly know what the deal is with overclocking the new Ivybridges and them getting hot/not clocking as high, but my 2500K can do 4.7Ghz all day long on its Corsair H60 and OC'ing is a breeze with these processors now. There isn't a lot that is new and exciting from a purely gaming standpoint with Ivy Bridge. Thus, the 2500k will be a little cheaper and you probably won't see any difference in frame rates.

I don't think you can go wrong with either and most likely your GPU is going to be the bottleneck before it fully exploits either chip.
